Plans & billing
What’s the difference between an extension and a concurrent channel?
An extension is a user or device on your phone system (for example, ext. 101 for Alex). A concurrent channel is capacity for one outside call at a time. A team of 20 people might only need 5 channels if they’re rarely all on outside calls at once.
Is a SIP trunk the same as a channel?
No. A SIP trunk is the connection that carries your calls to the phone network. A trunk is sized with a number of channels — the number of calls it can carry at the same time.
What is a DID?
A DID (Direct Inward Dial) is a phone number. Plans include a set number of DIDs; you can route each one to a person, a team or an auto attendant.
Can I pay monthly or annually?
Yes, where a plan shows both options. Prices are in US dollars. Taxes and regulatory fees may apply.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Contact us and we’ll move you to a plan that better fits your team.
Using ezphony
What is the Web Phone?
The Web Phone lets you make and receive calls in a supported web browser using your extension. Use the “Web Phone” button on this site to open it, then sign in with the web phone credentials provided for your extension.
Is my portal login the same as my Web Phone login?
Not necessarily. Your ezphony customer portal account (for your plan and account settings) is separate from your phone system / Web Phone login. We never ask for your phone system password on this website.
Do I need special equipment?
For the browser phone, a computer with a headset is enough. You can also use compatible SIP desk phones or softphone apps.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
In many cases numbers can be ported. Eligibility and timing depend on your current carrier and number, so contact us to check before you cancel your old service.
Emergency calling & security
Does ezphony support 911?
Please read our 911 / E911 notice before using the service. Internet-based calling has important differences from traditional phone service, including how your location is provided to emergency services and what happens during power or internet outages.
How is my account protected?
Portal passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, sessions are protected, and you can turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app from your account settings.
